How do I price & tag my items?
Once you have registered as a consignor, you will be able to enter your items into our online tagging & barcoding system.  All items must be entered no later than September 7th. Once you have entered your items and printed your tags, you will secure them to your items as described below. Tagging your items is the most important thing you will do. We highly encourage consignors to use tagging guns, as this helps prevent buyers from switching tags, it looks more presentable & it makes our check-out line move faster when removing the tags. This means more sales for you and happier customers!!  If you are a returning consignor and have items that did not sell in the last sale, you can use the same tags you used last time. If, however, you would like to make changes to any part of your tag, you must delete the old tag, disgard it and make a new one in the online system.  You can not make handwritten changes to the tags, as we will not be able sell items with handwritten changes. We also encourage you to delete any items that you no longer intend to sell or that were donated after the last sale.  This way you will have an accurate view of your inventory. As you tag your items, it is very important that you follow the instructions found below. Your items will be checked for appropriate tags when you drop them off. If the tag is not adhered properly and falls off, we have no way of knowing who it belongs to or what the price was, therefore, we can not sell the item. There will be a lost & found at the end of the sale where all untagged items will be placed. It is your responsibility to check this location before you leave. To prevent this from occurring and to better ensure a smooth running sale, please follow these instructions:

What You Need to Know:
· Your items will sell best if you present them in a neat manner.  There are literally thousands and thousands of items for shoppers to choose from, so it is in your best interest to take the time to make your items look the best they can.  Our goal is to help you make the most money you can for your items, in return for all the work you put into the preparation..

· We can no longer accept any clothing or blankets in plastic bags/zip locks.  All clothing must be hung & bedding can be hung or folded neatly to be laid on a table.

· Please limit stuffed animals to 5 (not including battery operated stuffed animals) in excellent condition.

· use white or off-white cardstock (the scanner will not be able to scan other colors) to tag your items. If you make a mistake on the card, go back to that item on your item inventory page, edit that item and make a new tag. Be sure to put the new, corrected tag on the item. The system will not recognize the old tag if it is accidentally put on the item and scanned at check out. We will not sell any item with a tag that has handwriting on it, so PLEASE do not cross out ANY errors made on your tag, no matter how small the error.

· If you have identical items and you want to make multiple tags for them, select the number of tags under the quantity section. DO NOT PHOTOCOPY YOUR TAGS. Our register scanners will not read photocopied tags at check out. So you will not be able to sell those items.

· Use safety pins or a tagging gun to secure your tags to clothing, blankets or other fabric items. When securing your tags to your items, please pin, tape or fasten above the dotted line on the tag so that we can safely cut the tag off without cutting any text.

· Use zip ties (make sure shoppers can’t remove them) or clear packing tape (depending on the item) to secure tags to items other than clothing. Please use enough to secure, but not so much that it is impossible to remove for check out purposes or where it will damage the items (ie books, painted items). DO NOT TAPE OVER THE BARCODES!!

· We highly recommend using zip ties.  They are very inexpensive, you can find them at Walmart and it helps reduce tag switching and  they are also much easier for us to remove at checkout.

· As a guideline, price items at 75% off the original retail price (what you paid for it new). More popular name brand items tend to sell at a higher resale value.

· Price items in $.50 cent increments. Children's items can not be priced less than $2.00 and Home items no less than $10.00. If something is not worth $2, pair it with another similar item that is the same size (in the case of clothing).

· Do not indicate the size of clothing as S, M, L, XL for children's clothing. Estimate a numerical size

Clothing (Children's & Maternity):
· secure card to clothing with safety pin or tagging gun on left shoulder of tops and left pocket/hip of bottoms, as if you were wearing the clothes (see picture below). If you are using a tagging gun, be sure to attach the tag to a seam as it will leave a hole in the fabric or you may attach the tag to the manufactuer’s tag on the neckline or waist.  Be sure your tag is hanging on the outside of the clothing for easy viewing.

· clothing sets tend to sell better than individual tops and bottoms. So you may try to match tops with bottoms to help them sell. Sets should be hung on the special hangers made for sets of clothing or pinned together by pinning the waist of the bottoms to the shoulder of the tops with the bottoms behind the top

we can no longer accept onsies in plastic bags. they must be hung on hangers, but they will sell best if they are are sold in sets of 2-4. you can pin them together at the shoulders.

· pants, skirts & shorts without matching tops should be pinned through the waist on the top of the hanger.  Be sure to pin them so that they do not easily slide back and forth on the hanger.

· hangers should face the right shoulder of tops and the right pocket/hip of clothing, like a question mark

Shoes:
· place shoes in a plastic zip-lock bag and place the tag in the bag or tape to outside of the bag then seal the bag with tape or stape OR

· use a zip tie to secure the shoes together so that they can not be separated and secure the tag to the zip tie

Toys, Puzzles, Games, Equipment, Furniture, Appliances, Electronics:
· please limit your stuffed animals to 5 in excellent condition (this does not include battery-operated)

· tape the tag on a flat surface in a location so as not to damage the item (i.e. beware of painted services) or use a zip tie to secure the tag

· toys with small parts need to have them all included in a zip-lock bag that is sealed with packing tape and securely taped or zip tied to the toy itself.  Please check puzzle and board game pieces to ensure they are all included.

· books, videos, CDs & DVDs can be placed in zip-lock bags, and have the tag secured and bag sealed to prevent tampering. If you do not wish to use a bag please be sure to adhere tag so as not to damage item.

Blankets & Bedding:
· if possible, fold item neatly and hang it over the hanger, securing it to the hanger with safety pins, otherwise, it will be laid out on the table with similar bedding

· we can no longer accept blankets in plastic bags.

. secure the tag to the blanket with a safety pin or tagging gun OR tape the tag to the plastic bag

Small Miscellaneous Items: (rattles, bottles, socks)
· place these items in a plastic zip-lock bag and place the tag inside the bag or tape tag on outside of the bag. Then seal the bag with tape or staple.

· bag similar items together, it is more likely that a shopper will buy a bag of rattles for a few dollars than one rattle for $2.00
